Grand Slam... And Gone I Am

Lew's company party was tonight in the picnic area at Hadlock Field. That's where the Portland Sea Dogs play.

Our picnic area ticket included a meal of hot dogs, hamburgers, barbecued chicken, baked beans, cole slaw, Sea Dogs Biscuits, and soda machine drinks.

While we were eating, we began to admire the beautiful bolts of lightning that were shooting across the sky. Then it began to pour. Fortunately the picnic area is covered!

The start of the game was delayed by an hour. The Sea Dogs made two errors in the first inning, and they were suddenly behind, 2-0.

It was still 2-0 with the bases loaded and two outs in the top of the 5th inning. The Sea Dogs manager made a pitching change, and that's when the rest of Lew's coworkers decided to leave. We opted to go as well.

On our way out of the park, we saw that the Sea Dogs were now behind, 6-0.

Yep. The relief pitcher came in and promptly gave up a grand slam.

Looks like we made a good choice, as we are now home in time to watch the end of the Red Sox game.  At least the Sox are on their way to victory tonight!
