The Colors of Summer

We have seen -- and continue to see -- a lot of orange and white this summer.

The orange and white are alternating stripes on traffic cones... and also on those things that look like large garbage cans.

Yes, 'tis the season for Road Construction!

There is one major project on Route 1 that has gone on forever.  The word on the street (pun intended) is that it is almost complete.  From what I can tell, they need to mark the lanes.  They've widened the road and added a left-hand turn lane in one section, and nobody seems to know where the lanes actually are yet.  It's been fun to drive through.

The Maine Turnpike exit that Lew takes to go to work is also undergoing some work.  The exit itself is open, but the corresponding northbound entrance is currently closed.  The southbound entrance is open however, and fortunately Lew heads south to come home.

We ran into a similar situation on I-295 last night.  Due to road construction and a closed exit, we had to go a different way to our event.  We were able to come home the normal way, though.

As much as I dislike the thought of the eventual end of warm weather, I am looking forward to the removal of the orange and white street decor.
