The FIFA World Cup has been top news over the past few weeks. The tournament ended yesterday with a 1-0 win by Germany over Argentina for the championship.
I was glad Germany won the championship game by scoring an actual goal. It was nice the game didn't go to penalty kicks.
Argentina won its prior game (a semi-final) via penalty kicks. The score of that game was 0-0 after 90 minutes of regulation time. It was still 0-0 after the 30 minutes of extra time, at which point Lew asked, "Why do they bother running around like that for two hours? Why not go straight to the penalty kicks?"
The game announcers then said the TV coverage would go back to the studio panel for a few minutes; the panel would offer analysis of what had happened so far.
Lew offered his own analysis: "Nothing happened!"
Conclusion: Lew really likes watching football... American football, that is!
