Mom's Old Stomping Ground

Dad just came over to tell us that the residents of two Maryland towns -- Havre de Grace and Port Deposit -- have been told to evacuate.  The Susquehanna River is continuing to rise, and it is threatening to flood over.

We live in Maine, not Maryland, so why is this of interest to us?

Because my mother grew up in Port Deposit!

I just looked up the story on the Fox News Channel website (foxnews.com).  The article says the population of Port Deposit is about 1,000.

Yes, that's one thousand.

My mother is from a very small town indeed.

Let's hope and pray that it's still there after Tropical Storm Lee gets done with it.
