One Birthday, Two Anniversaries, Three Toes

Yesterday (Thursday, July 20, 2023) was my father's 85th birthday.

It was also the wedding anniversary for Debbie & Glen, and Lew & me.

And it was the day my father's remaining three toes (one big, two others) on his left foot were removed. Dad, Lew, and I left for the hospital around 12:15PM and got home around 6:30ish.

We sure know how to celebrate! 🎈🎂🎉🥳

(P.S. Kelsey, Zach, Bode, and Boston arrived Wednesday afternoon. We did have an early birthday dinner for Dad that evening.)

63 Years

Happy Anniversary to my parents! They had a brief visit outside today. I did manage to get a picture, but the sun didn't make it easy on our eyes. 🌞

Sixty-three years of wedded bliss!

Say, "CHEESE!"

Debbie brought these gorgeous flowers to Mom.

Mom's Thanksgiving Leaf

Mom colored a paper leaf earlier this week.  The recreation director wrote Mom's answer on the leaf (see photo below).  The paper leaves went on a Thanksgiving tree.

I love Mom's answer.  "Everybody" would have included Dad, but I love that she mentioned him separately.  She knows he is HER special man!

My Muse...?

I asked Lew what I should write about tonight.

He said, "Let me think," and proceeded to rub my shoulders as I sat at my computer.

Then he said, "I've got nothing. I'm not much help."

Nope, Lew wasn't much help with my writer's block.  My writing muse, he is not.

But he gives great shoulder rubs, so I think I'll keep him.

61 Years

Happy Anniversary, Mom and Dad!

We had a little party during the lunch hour today.

The nursing home had a table outside for us to use. Kim and Debbie picked up pizza (gluten free for Mom) and Debbie brought Bundtlets for both Mom and Dad. I took an extra-long lunch break so I could be there. Lew and Josh also joined us.

It was the first time my parents and their three daughters were all together in the same place since before the pandemic. Lew took a picture of us!

Valentine's Day Movie Night

I have tomorrow off for President's Day, so Lew and I decided to stay up late tonight to watch a movie.

I wanted to watch a "chick flick." Lew was willing to watch such a movie, but....

Well....

Anyway....

So I suggested we watch the Pixar movie "Soul" instead. It was excellent! We both enjoyed it. Highly recommend!

Vacation!

I have this week off from work. 😊

I selected this week for a vacation because tomorrow is our 20th wedding anniversary! 💕

Tomorrow is also Dad's birthday and Debbie & Glen's anniversary (#24 for them). 🎂

What have Lew and I planned for my week off? It's a staycation, so we will take some walks around the neighborhood, eat some good food out, and watch movies every night in the comfort of our own living room. Sounds delightful!

Happy 60th Anniversary!

Dad shared in his post yesterday that today marks 60 years of wedded bliss for him and Mom!

The activities director at the center helped Mom make a poster for her window today. It was a nice surprise for Dad when he went to visit her! I stopped by after work to take some photos:

Happy Anniversary, Mom and Dad! I love you both so very much!

A Day to Celebrate

July 20th is...
  • Dad's birthday. Happy Birthday to you, Dad!
  • Debbie & Glen's anniversary. Happy Anniversary, you two!
  • Lew's & my anniversary. Happy Anniversary, Sweetie! Nineteen years and counting!

The Lobster Bowl football game was today. Zack was named to the West squad but opted not to play after he tweaked his knee a bit during a practice this week. All is well, but it's better not to take a chance of a more serious injury. Congratulations, Zack, on a very successful high school football career! Best wishes at the college level!

I have been fighting a head cold this week. I am opting to take it easy this weekend in an attempt to regain 100% health. Ahchoo!

59 and Counting

My parents (Derf and Spouse) celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary today. Pretty amazing!

So — as my father pointed out to me — tomorrow they will be in their 60th year of marriage.

Happy Anniversary, Mom and Dad!

Blog Delinquency

I have been of a one-track mind lately. I worked all weekend on decluttering and re-organizing in the house. Consequently, I was a delinqent blogger. (Maybe I should temporarily change the blog's name from Mainely Tracy to The Delinquent Blogger, ha ha!***)

Lew and I did go out on Friday night, though, so the weekend wasn't all spent toiling in the house. Our breakfast buddies, Dick and Carole, were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary! It was a lovely party celebrating a lovely marriage of two lovely people.
💕

*** Hmmm... maybe I should change the name... at least until I am done with the massive decluttering project I have undertaken!

My Handsome Nephews

Josh and Zack were ushers at their Aunt Jody's wedding today.

The attire was country-themed.

Don't they look handsome?!

Congratulations, Jody and Stephen!

Two Anniversarys

If I am doing my math correctly, it was 30 years ago today that my sister Kim married Joe. Happy 30th to them!

I just did some extensive research (Google) and learned that the 30th is the "pearl" anniversary. That's the traditional gift anyway. Apparently there is also a modern gift, too... "diamond" on the 30th... ooh la la!

I was also curious about the 2nd anniversary: traditional = cotton; modern = china.

Why the 2nd?

We adopted Marilyn two years ago today! Happy Anniversary, sweet kitty! You will not be receiving cotton nor china.

The Number of the Day: 57

Today's number is most famous for the Heinz slogan "57 Varieties."

But yesterday this number became nearer and dearer to our family.... My parents celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary.

Wishing them love, joy, peace, and many blessings as they begin year number 58!
