Dad 716: The Pandas Are Coming!

(Dad writes today! ~ Tracy)

Derf Here! Another beautiful sunny day with temperatures just above 70°.

The blog editor said this post can be short. So here goes.

Spent days now watching the trial for Trump. Now I'll watch more days until the jury finds him guilty. A forgone conclusion. What a judge. A little shaky.

Just saw that two pandas are coming to an American zoo. Hopefully they will reproduce. On the show it said the panda world population has doubled from 1,000 to 2,000 over the last 40 years. Wouldn't mind having a panda!

That's about it and I hope it is short enough.

Until next time!

Spring Cleaning

Yesterday I decided it was time to take decluttering seriously. Less stuff around would be helpful when cleaning the house.

I already found a couple completely unnecessary items to put out on the lawn for free. Lew put them out this morning, and they went fairly quickly. It's amazing that other people want the stuff we no longer want.

I'm not sure I will completely declutter by the first day of summer. In fact, I know I won't! It will be slow, but steady. Just like the tortoise. 😁

13-3 in 5

13-3... The score of Eli's little league game last night.

5... The number of innings played due to the 10-run mercy rule.

Additional comments:  Eli's team won!  He also had a couple hits, one of which was a massive triple.

Congratulations, Eli!

P.S. Lew and I got our dinner at the field's incredible snack bar.

Dad 715: Changes to See

(Dad writes today! ~ Tracy)

Derf Here! Enjoying another day on the summery side that has temps in the 80s with sun. Keep it coming!

Just received Kents Hill School's spring magazine. Two weeks from this Saturday (June 8th) I will be spending the day at Kents Hill for its reunion. It will be the 200th year of celebrating Kents Hill School. Mary Lou and I spent years 1961-1966 there, where we taught and coached and did dorm duty.

There were a few buildings on the campus back then, but now there are many more buildings. It now is a very large campus and its buildings take up a lot of area. I worked for a few summers with the maintenance department and mowed lawns and did other jobs. It has changed. Our barn we worked out of is gone. I can't believe the new campus, and I will be quite interested in the tour of all the property. I was there five years ago but didn't have time to look the place over. More about this trip next week.

Until next time!

Oxygen Update

Lew and I took Dad for his oxygen appointment on Thursday. He "passed the test" for the more portable machine. He was given one that day and he has been using it 24/7.

The company will send a driver to pick up the bigger unit this Friday. If Dad opts to go back to the bigger unit, then they'll pick up the more portable machine instead. But I think the big one will be leaving.

The portable machine is very straightforward to use. Modern technology really is amazing.

My final thoughts for this post: Oxygen is useful. Breathing is good. 😁

Dad 714: Lew's Lawn

(Dad writes today! An additional follow-up from last week's post: He did complete the reunion RSVP's with e-mail help from yours truly. ~ Tracy)

Derf Here! The weather seems to be getting more like spring and summer, with the temperatures reaching into the 80s in certain areas yesterday. Keep those temps rising and the sun shining!

Not much going on this week. Lew has mowed the lawn a couple times and it looks good. He still has to avoid an area where strong winds blew down large tree branches. We hope to get it cleared up as the days progress. We'll see where this ends a little later in the summer.

Tomorrow I will check out getting a portable oxygen machine. I would like to have a portable in order to move about better. We'll see what I'm told tomorrow. As of now I'm using O2 at night but not during the day. My O2 level seems to drop if I'm doing something. While sitting it remains high. We'll see what direction I take with O2.

I've done enough writing for today. So.... Another week of logging in!

Until next time!

A Wooden Jigsaw Puzzle

This afternoon I did a small wooden jigsaw puzzle (by CraftHub).

Some of the pieces were adorable! If a piece was shaped like an animal, then the reverse side of the piece had that animal's markings.

The puzzle was fun to do, but it was harder than it looks. I especially had trouble keeping the pieces from separating as I fit in more pieces.... Fat fingers?!  LOL!

Below is a photo of my completed puzzle. The regular-sized toothpick at the bottom gives a perspective on the dimensions.

Again, it was very fun!

Fur Friends

Debbie brought Mazie to visit today.

We decided to see how Mazie would get along with Jerry (and vice versa).

They sniffed each other for a bit. Then Mazie watched Jerry play with her toy.

Mazie fell asleep after all the excitement, while Jerry wondered what all the excitement was about!

Dad 713: RSVP & O2

(Dad writes today. He is saving my blog from extinction! I will try to post more. Thanks for reading! ~ Tracy)

Derf Here! Today's weather is not great, especially after yesterday which may have been our early summer. It seems to be slow coming, but I guess we'll have to wait.

I've got two or three things I want to take care of in the next couple days.

I've been invited to reunions at two schools I have taught at, and I need to respond to those requests. (I must get my computer person to e-mail them.) I will make it to one of the reunions. I will attend the one at Kents Hill School where I first started teaching in 1961. I cannot make the July reunion at Sanford High School, where I taught from 1966 to 1970. I am saving my month of July for family visitors from Illinois.

I have been wanting to get a portable O2 machine and have a prescription for one. I finally have gotten around to trying to schedule this meeting. Waiting for a callback from Apria. Hope to firm up a date today.

I'll let you know if I completed these tasks.

Until next time!

How I Spent My Birthday (and the Next Two Days)

I was a complete sloth for three days. All I did from Wednesday through Friday was sleep, read, eat, and watch stuff on TV.

I did go visit a friend yesterday morning, so I guess I should remove the word "complete" from the first sentence of this post.

I am paying for my slothfulness today. I dealt with the mail piled up on my desk, used the elliptical machine, took a shower, and I am currently doing laundry.

I will close this post with a photo of my birthday cake. It was chocolate. The frosting was sickeningly sweet... just the way I like it. Yum!

Dad 712: Meeting Mazie Mae

(Dad writes today. And, yes, I believe his post is short enough! ~ Tracy)

Derf Here! Not a great pre-summer day. It is cloudy but the temperature is getting warmer. If only the weather would get to be a constantly sunny daily occurrence. Any time, please!

Only two things to write about today.

1)  Sixty-one years ago today the first of our three daughters was born in Augusta, Maine. The now 61-year-old daughter is Tracy. She and her husband, Lew, own and live with me in our family home. They are certainly a very helpful couple for me as I trudge along these days. (I might add that Tracy said to keep my blog post short today.)

2)  Daughter Deb brought her new puppy to see us this morning. Mazie Mae is cute and active! I'm sure we will see her frequently and try to get her to become friends with our cats. Below is a picture of me with my new grand-puppy.

(Short enough, Tracy?)

Until next time!
