Dad 626: Boat Now, Bode Soon

(Dad writes today! ~ Tracy)

Derf Here! Another beautiful summer day. Temperature is around 76°.

Haven't watched the committee meetings on the January 6 "vicious" riots. What a joke! Hopefully this joke will be over with the November elections. Stranger things have happened.

Well, after two years in dry dock, Glen's boat is in the Atlantic Ocean. It was in the water last Sunday and Glen went on a trip with Deb, Kim, and Joe to Casco Bay Islands. All went well, so I'm sure that they will get in some serious boating this summer. Have summer fun on the high seas. Enjoy!

My first priority remains Lou, as she is visited by Tracy and me every day. We now have Kim, Joe, and Kaelen visiting her when possible. Lou enjoys all her relatives. I think the highlight of the season will come when Zach, Kelsey, and Bode get here in a few weeks. Bode will be the top person to see. Looking forward to it! BODE!

Enough for today.

Until next time!

A/C Units and Books

Lew now has put in all three of the window air conditioner units we use each summer.  They are for our bedroom, our dining room, and Dad's bedroom.  I am pleased to report that the weather actually has warmed up enough to warrant turning them on at times.

Regular readers of this blog know I love to read, and summer is just the time to do more reading. (I say this in fall, winter, and spring, too! Ha ha!)  I currently have about 10 different books going.  I am concentrating on three of them and the others I pick up when I feel like it.  (These "others" are not novels, and they are okay to read slowly and sporadically.)  If you'd like to get a sense of what I like to read, please check out the links to my "Reading List" pages under my photo on the right.

I did not practice my penny whistle yet today, so I better get on that.  😁

Ole Miss and Tin Whistle

Congratulations to Ole Miss for winning the College Baseball World Series! Lew and I enjoyed watching all of the teams over the last week and a half. Lots of fun.

A friend of mine wants to learn to play the Irish Tin Penny Whistle and I'm going to learn, too! She already had a whistle and I ordered one on Amazon. It arrived yesterday, so let the learning begin. (Sorry, Lew! You may want to turn down your hearing aids. 😁)

A Good Decision

Today, June 24, 2022, is a historic day!

I haven't read the complete SCOTUS opinion, but I have bookmarked it.  The PDF file is 213 pages, so it will take a while to read.

I am praying for all of the life-affirming pregnancy centers. They have helped so many women and will continue to do so.  Protect them, Lord, and honor their work!  (I was on the board for our local center for eight years.)

Psalm 139:13-16 (NIV) ~

For you created my inmost being;

you knit me together in my mother’s womb.

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;

    your works are wonderful,

    I know that full well.

My frame was not hidden from you

when I was made in the secret place,

when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.

Your eyes saw my unformed body;

all the days ordained for me were written in your book

before one of them came to be.

Dad 625: Summer!

(Dad writes today! ~ Tracy)

Derf Here! Summer is here. It arrived yesterday. We have had some great weather lately. A little cool but quite nice.

Part of our Illinois family arrived a couple days ago. Joe, Kim, and Kaelen are spending time at Debbie's and Glen's house. They arrived Monday, and Kim spent Tuesday afternoon visiting her mom. I believe today Lou will have a visit from Kaelen, and Joe has gone to see his mother in the Bangor area. So things are rolling along with their visit. They will be here for a few weeks so Joe can attend his 50th high school reunion in August.

We now await our visit from the rest of our Illinois family in a few weeks. That would be Zach, Kelsey, and Bode, and they will be coming for about 10 days. We await!

We are visiting Lou every afternoon. I am playing the bubble game with her daily and getting trounced each day. Occasionally I win a game. The wins do not come easy. She (Lou) takes a few more moves than she should on her turns. Why? She wants to! I guess that is a good reason, for her anyway.

Our country is in trouble still. Just a few more months and a correction will begin.... I HOPE!

Until next time!

Summer!

The calendar says that summer is upon us.

Last night's arrival of Kim, Joe, and Kaelen (and Cocoa!) is another indication summer is here!

This afternoon I met a couple friends at the Dairy Corner for ice cream.

I love summer!

9:47 and Father's Day

New "latest time" record for our mail delivery: 9:47 PM last night.

Father's Day celebrations:  Lew made blueberry pancakes for breakfast for Dad, himself, and me. Matt, Emily, Eli, and Adam brought us all food from Amato's for lunch. We had a lovely visit with them.

Happy Father's Day!

Lew, Matt, Eli, and Adam. (Names ordered by age! 😁)

Windfall!

Last week my friend Ellen texted a picture to me. It was a big bin full of LEGO pieces. She asked, "Any interest in this box? Going to Goodwill."

My reply:  "Yes!!!!! Thank you!"

Ellen left the bin on our porch a couple days later.

I am slowly sorting through and organizing my windfall. There are so many fun pieces that I have never seen before. There are also a lot of standard elements.

I love sorting and organizing LEGO... maybe even more than I love building with it. Perhaps my next career can be "Professional LEGO Organizer."  Isn't this a need that must be met?  😁

Dad 624: Anticipation!

(Dad writes today! ~ Tracy)

Derf Here! Another summer day here in the Northeast. Shirtsleeve weather. Keep it coming!

We are anticipating our summer visit from our Illinois family next week. If all works out, they (Kim, Joe, and Kaelen) will be here next Monday or Tuesday. Even Cocoa is making the trip! He will be welcome.

The news is still not great regarding the actions of our leaders. Just a few more months! Hope we do protect our highest court judges. As of this writing, nothing has been decided.

Until next time!

Where Is Marilyn?

It has been a while since my last "Where is Marilyn?" post.  Today seems like a good day to remedy that!

Hint: Marilyn does enjoy the new area rug in our living room. 😻

(Lew and I like the rug, too.  Lew said, "It ties the room together!")

Sports Roundup

The Red Sox have been on the West Coast, so we haven't seen too much of their games this week. But they are doing well. (Although they did lose last night.)

Lew and I enjoyed watching the Women's College World Series. Oklahoma wrapped up the softball championship last night with a win over Texas. Amazing players on both teams, but Oklahoma showed they were ranked #1 for a reason.

The Celtics currently are ahead two games to one over Golden State in the NBA finals. Even though we don't watch them, I hope they win. Go, Celtics!

Finally, our favorite sport to watch: Bowling! (Yes, it really is our favorite.)  It's been a fun week with the "King of the Lanes" competition. The first three programs were the "Family Edition." The lone mother/daughter team ended up winning on the final night, so they are the reigning "Royal Family."  The regular "King of the Lanes" competition ends tonight.  Some great contenders are scheduled to bowl, so it should be a great show!

Dad 623: Stickers

(Inspection, registration, parking.... Dad writes today! ~ Tracy)

Derf Here! A cool, damp day in the Northeast. Not a great day to be out. Friday is supposed to be a warm day. Maybe a good day tomorrow, maybe not!

Had a busy week so far. Been up to see Lou every afternoon and will do so as we continue on. Also needed an inspection sticker on our car. Got this done yesterday while servicing vehicle. Today I went to the town hall and licensed the car for its last year in my possession. Also got my beach parking pass for Scarborough beaches, the 2022 version.

Today I'm actually writing this post in the morning. I plan on doing this every week. Only my second morning literary work. Will try to get it done every week. Then I'm done by noon.

Will be up to see Lou today and fill her birdfeeders. Also will clean off her bird collar that keeps the animals from getting on the feeders. Not working 100%, but we'll take it!

Until next week!

9:36

Title of post = last night's mail delivery time!  A little short of the record, but still... what is going on with the USPS????? (I know they are short-staffed like a lot of places, but still....)

This is my second post in a row regarding this subject. Yes, our household is very interested in tracking what time our mail is delivered.

We lead exciting lives.

😏😉😁

9:39

I just did a quick review of old blog posts looking for the current record for how late our mail has been delivered.  If I didn't miss anything after Friday, December 18, 2020, then the current record was 9:24 PM, set on that very day.

I am pleased (NOT!) to announce that a new record was set last night, Saturday, June 4, 2022. See the title of this blog post.

And that's 9:39 P.M., not A.M.

Sigh....

😕

A Fun Puzzle

My latest jigsaw puzzle was "Day at the Beach."  Debbie did this one first and then passed it along to me. It was very fun. I love the colors!

I gave the puzzle to the nursing home yesterday. They have a resident there who likes to do 1000-piece jigsaw puzzles, and she was ready to start a new one. She will enjoy doing this!

Dad 622: Constant Continuing

(Dad writes today! ~ Tracy)

Derf Here! Not a bad day. Should get a shower in Southern Maine this afternoon. Off and on showers the next few days. Temps are lower now than they have recently been. But summer is on its way. We had a two day summer season a few days back. It was great!

I've done it again. I got set up to write this blog this morning around 9:30 AM. I then sat in my big chair and now it is noon and I am trying to get something done. I don't have much to say so I won't write much more.

Still getting news updates about the school shooting last week.

Tracy and I continue to visit Lou every afternoon. Everything remains fairly constant on our visits. We get a chance to converse and visit along with a nap every now and then. I'm the one who naps.

This seems like a good time to stop, so I will.

Until next time!
