"A Pep Talk In Every Drop"

Lew really likes Halls Defense Supplement Drops.  He gets the Assorted Citrus flavors.

On Monday night we each had a "drop."  We were in the car at the time, so I put the paper wrappings in my purse to dispose of later.

But as I was crinkling up the paper, I noticed there was writing (in addition to the Halls logo) on the wrappers.

When I looked more closely, I read the words "Get back in there champ!" on one of the wrappers.  This particular wrapper had three more encouraging messages on it:

• Be resilient.
• Go for it.
• Don't waste a precious minute.

But my favorite "pep talk" was on the other wrapper:

"Put a little strut in it."

I think I will!

Dad 100: Vehicles, Shmehicles

(I can't believe it!  This is my father's 100th post on my blog!  Enjoy!  -- Tracy)

Derf Here!  From the very damp, soggy, northeast corner of these United States.  It seems as though the rain has stopped and the flooded areas are receding.  Therefore, I am no longer working on the "ark."  I can go back to completing the small vegetable garden on the front lawn.  Better hurry up and get the plants in or there will never be a harvest.  Must complete within the week!!  Oh, yes!

The past week has seen Josh's baseball team win three games.  The weather has not been the best for baseball, hence a make-up game is scheduled for today.  Josh's last school game prior to becoming a high schooler.  Certainly do grow up quickly.  Zack's weekend lacrosse tournament was cancelled.  Don't know if he will play any more games this spring.  Hope so!

Saturday morning my truck would not start.  Engine turned over, but no firing.  It ran all right the night before as I parked it in the driveway.  Vehicles!!  Triple A couldn't help as they only jump start and tow.  Decided to wait until Monday to have my mechanic tow to his shop.  He is a Triple A tower.  I'll request him to do the tow.

Sunday was no better.  Still wouldn't fire up.  Must use Kaelen's car to attend church.  Still wet and lousy!

Monday arrived and truck started as soon as it turned over.  Tested out on computer and all "reads" were good.  I'll keep running it until it stops for good.  Hopefully, it won't be on the road, but in my yard.  Then, at least, might be able to see what is wrong.  I had hoped the truck would not start Monday.  So far -- so good!  Maybe it is a self-repairing vehicle.  For sure!

Kaelen's car (actually our Fusion) is now licensed and a new inspection sticker is on the windshield.  Also have the summer beach pass used to park in the town parking lot.  New registration is completed.  Must now pay the insurance within the week.

I'm now just realizing how much of my time is used to keep the vehicles on the road.  Worth it?  I guess so!

Highlight of the week is the Celtics winning three games in a row.  Now, if they can win next game at home, they could be in the finals.  I'm hoping!  But it is only a game!  Go Celtics!!

Bulletin!  The sun is shining! The sun is shining!  What a pleasant sight.  Must take advantage of the sunlight, sooo....

Projects Too Long Ignored

For June 5th, it is really, really cold outside.  I avoided turning the heat up yesterday, but I just couldn't make it through today without facilitating a little temperature jump inside the house.  Brrrrr....

For someone who is not employed, I have certainly been busy.  I've had some projects "on hold" for a few weeks.  But guess what?  It's time to do them.

The projects include (but are not limited to) the following:

• Declutter the guest bedroom
• Convert the church financial records to a new software program
• Write my book

It is almost 3:00 p.m. and I have done nothing today on any of these projects.

I think I may work on the church stuff for a bit.  Although I would rather just drink tea and snuggle with my very soft (and warm) kitten....

Estivation

Today I read about estivation.

It is similar to hibernation in that it is a state of dormancy.

Estivation is practiced by some animals during the hot summer months.

I read about estivation in reference to snails.  Snails are covered in slime, so I guess they estivate to escape the heat and dryness.

The recent weather here would probably rouse a snail from estivation....

It is not hot and it is not dry!

Five Small Mice

The day after I brought Jerry home last week, Debbie came by with a blue gift bag. It was a "Welcome" gift for the cat.

Debbie sat on the floor with Jerry and together they opened the bag, which contained toys and treats galore!

Since that day, it has become clear that Jerry's favorite items from the gift bag are five small mice. The mice have white heads and pink ears (or maybe they are eyes; it's hard to tell). The body of each mouse is of a different color. The five colors are: blue, yellow, green, orange, and pink.

I did not even have to look at the mice to remember the colors. And why is this? Because I have retrieved these mice from under the stove about twelve billion times each!

We have now safely blocked the opening through which these little rascals disappear.

Current mice head count: 1,2,3,4,and... 5! All accounted for!

(Postscript: Matt, Emily, and Eli came over for a nice visit after church today. Eli and Jerry got along great! Eli laughed at the kitty's antics, and Jerry was very gentle with Eli. So sweet!)

Raining Cats and Dogs

Breakfast out, visit Grammy, grocery store, laundry, Red Sox, etc.

Just a normal Saturday.  Except for the rain.

Tonight we may start building an ark.

Jerry will be the first animal to board!

Walk, Shop, Watch, Munch

I had grandiose plans to be very productive today.

What I actually did:

• Took a morning walk with Ellen.
• Went to Rite Aid with my mother and Kaelen.
• Watched the movie "Larry Crowne" with Mom and Kaelen.
• Went out for pie and fry with Lew.

I'd say that was a pretty productive day, wouldn't you?  :)
