Lew's Logbook: ML&R Closes

(Lew writes today. Many thanks to Debbie & Glen for joining us this morning. ~ Tracy)

The idiom goes back over 800 years, but — like OT Proverbs — remains true today: “All good things must come to an end.”

Tracy and I have been going to the same restaurant for breakfast almost every Saturday for as long as we’ve been married — almost 19 years. (I was going there on a regular basis before we even met.) We meet with our friends Dick and Carole and sometimes some other guests (usually relatives). I have also been meeting there with three other retired guys on Tuesdays for years. The amount of home fries that I have consumed there would fill a dump truck.

The owner has decided she has had enough and is closing the business and selling the building. The owner’s daughter has been our waitress all these years. She does not want to take over.

Today was our last breakfast. Lots of people are very sad to see it close and the place was packed this morning. Sunday (tomorrow) is the last day of operation.

Below is a picture with our server and friend. We will stay in touch. We’re friends on Facebook.  😊

Dad 469: Stick(er)y Situations

(So many appointments! Enjoy Dad's post! ~ Tracy)

Derf Here! This day has turned out beautiful. A real summer day! Hope tomorrow is as good as I meet my cardiologist!

Our primary care physician (PCP) has moved his office due to the closing of his office in Westbrook. I've had some problems getting prescriptions and a date to see him. Spouse and I see him once a month and I schedule three or four months in advance. The new place did not allow us to keep our regular monthly appointment even though I called a month ahead. We finally have our appointment next week. I will straighten things out then. Hope all works out!

My truck failed state inspection for two reasons. Some rust under the back bumper is considered a hazard. Well, I have a guy to fix that next week. Also there is a hole in the frame near the front left control arm. I'm working on getting a welder to fix that. Of course, my sticker runs out this weekend. So I'll keep the fail sheet in the truck as I travel about to repair said dangers. Hope to have all done in the next week. Going to be a busy time.

Looking forward to Illinois family visit in about two weeks. So I'll close now.

Until next time!

'Tis the Season

Summertime,
Summertime,
Sum-Sum-Summertime....

Heigh-Ho, Heigh Ho,
It's home from work I go....

(to enjoy...)

Summertime,
Summertime,
Sum-Sum-Summertime!

I don't have much vacation time banked at my new job yet, so I need to cherish these summertime evenings!

Lew's Logbook: Last Game of the Year

(Lew writes today. Enjoy! ~ Tracy)

The Red Sox may have a lot of games left to play, but for Little League Team Jukado, today was the last game of the season.

Adam and Eli got to play on the same team this year (instructional league) and their coach was Daddy.

Eli told me before the game started that he wasn’t going to play today. He didn’t feel like it. After a short chat with Coach Daddy, he picked up his glove and took the field. I don’t know what Coach said but I’m sure it was very inspirational.

The team had a perfect record. Every player reached base each time they came to the plate. Coach pitched to his own players and I think his ERA was about 20. It may not be the highest level of baseball play but it was fun to watch.

I have included a picture of the team. At a glance you will note that they are a fine bunch of well-trained athletes.

Adam is 2nd from left. Eli is in the middle, sitting next to Coach.

Dad 468: No News = Good News

(I think I have infected my father with the "what do I write about" disease! Enjoy his very brief post. 😊 ~ Tracy)

Derf Here! Another cloudy cool day is about over in the Northeast. We did see some sun earlier in the day. We have seen some nice days. Now we want to string some good summer days together. Summer starts in a couple days.

Can't think of much to write about today. Will try to catch you up on situations next week. But for now I'm done. I'll do better next week.

Until next time!

Packing Slip: One Cat

When I got home from work I saw that we got a package today.
I'm pretty sure Lew had already removed the real contents!

Working Girl

Monday.... The start of another work week.

I joked with a work colleague, "Another day, another dollar... or 70 cents after taxes."

Busy day today, so I did earn my 70 cents.

An Interesting Week

A lot has happened this past week:

Zack graduated from high school.

David Ortiz (a.k.a. Big Papi) was shot in the Dominican Republican. (His prognosis is good.)

The Bruins lost game seven of the Stanley Cup. They were the favorites.

The Red Sox have managed to start winning. (Keep it up!)

My new health and dental insurance cards arrived in the mail. I'm covered as of July 1st through my new employer. (Farewell, COBRA!)

Tomorrow is Father's Day. Best wishes for a great day to my father (a.k.a. Derf), Lew, Matt, Joe, Glen, Zachariah, and all of the dads out there!

Dad 467: A Busy Day

(Dad writes after his busy day. Good luck to the Bruins tonight! ~ Tracy)

Derf Here! Another gorgeous day in the Northeast. Now this is the weather we want! More, please!!

Last night the restaurant at Bayley's Campground burned down. Also the arcade. It was a big fire. A disaster just prior to their season. So sad.

Got the back 40 mowed today. Also got my diabetic shoes adjusted. So I had a busy day.

Lew has gone to see a baseball game. Matt coaches, and Eli and Adam are on his team. Enjoy the game, Lew!

Mary Lou (a.k.a. Spouse) and I made it through our 59th wedding anniversary yesterday. I would have bought roses except the cats would destroy them.

Tune in next week. I might have something interesting.

Until next time!

59 and Counting

My parents (Derf and Spouse) celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary today. Pretty amazing!

So — as my father pointed out to me — tomorrow they will be in their 60th year of marriage.

Happy Anniversary, Mom and Dad!

Zack, the High School Graduate!

Last night we all went to Zack's high school graduation. (Photo evidence below!)

Congratulations, Zack!

Processing in. Love the grin!

Look for the tallest in the back on the right side. That's Zack!

The Birthday Girl

We've had some nice weather the past couple days!

Our kitties don't go outside, but they do enjoy the nice weather, too.... The windows are open, and there are sunny places to take naps.

Marilyn found a sunny spot in the back room upstairs today... her birthday!

I don't know for sure if Marilyn was born on June 8th, but it is the day we have chosen to celebrate her birth.

Happy Birthday to you, Marilyn!

Dad 466: The Party's Over

(We are looking forward to Zack's graduation ceremony this coming Sunday. Enjoy Dad's post! ~ Tracy)

Derf Here! Are we ever going to get some warm days here in the Northeast? Or are we destined for 50s throughout until Fall? Please!

Had a great time at Zack's graduation party on Sunday. Glen and Deb did a great job with the decorations, pictures, and food. Must admit my blood count got a little out of control as I enjoyed a couple foods that I shouldn't have. Back to normal now!

Not a whole lot going on here outside of mowing, etc. Not much to write about. Tracy will be happy as I close shop now!

Until next time!

A Couple Updates

New blog title

Dad informed me that he doesn't agree with my idea for the new title of this blog. To that I say, "Tough!"

.... Well, okay, it will still be Mainely Tracy. But please note the sub-title in smaller print above!

My reading list

It was 58 books on March 14.
It was down to 51 on May 4.
As of right now, it is at 48.
I added a couple new titles, but at least the number is going down over time.

Read a book!  😊

Fired!

I asked Lew if he wanted to write a blog post today, and he said, "I guess not." He then told me I should fire him as a guest blogger, so I did!

But I now am having second thoughts, because I haven't been blogging that consistently either.

Dad is the only one who is coming through on a regular basis. Perhaps I should change the name of this blog from Mainely Tracy to Principally Derf....

I think that name is actually kind of clever. Dad was a high school principal, and then there is the similar meanings of the words "main" and "principal."

I like it!

😃
